| The album "Number of the Beast" saw the replacement of Iron Maiden's lead singer Pual Di'Anno with that of former infantryman Bruce Dickinson. Numerous albums and world tours resulted in the band going on a brief hiatus. Dickinson recorded a solo project "Tattooed Millionaire" and authored a book, "The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace". In 1992, Dickinson took a break from the band and rejoined in February of 1999. Without Iron Maiden, the integer "666" would have less cultural resonance and countless Hollywood horror films would lack that telltale shortcut nomenclature scene to the devil. |
