In the late 80's the Black Crowes were signed to the Def American label which housed the likes of Danzig and Slayer. The raw form of the Crowes was a stark contrast to them. The Black Crowes' first album "Shake Your Money Maker" produced two hit singles, "Hard to Handle", and "She Talks to Angels". It was a very mature album for such a young just-starting-out band. After rave reviews, they caught the tail-end of Aerosmith's "Pump" tour. They have also joined up with Jimmy Page for a series of concerts in the U.S.
