| Layne Staley joined Alice in Chains in 1987. The name was invented by Staley and was a parody meaning, "a heavy metal band that dressed drag". The band has seen much success in all their albums, especially "Jar of Flies" in 1994 it debuted at number 1. Alice in Chains have toured and worked with the likes of Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Soundgarden among others. Layne Staley has had a long existing battle with drugs and he speaks about his trials and tribulations in many of his songs. Tragically, they took his life on April 5, 2002. His body was found two weeks later in his apartment. |
