| Beginning with the 1995 release of "Yourself or Someone Like You", the band had a stroke of luck as their minor label of Lava was moved to its parent label Atlantic. The shift in marketing power and Much Music's Big Shiny Tunes compilation CD releases helped propel the album to number 5 on the Billboard charts. Thomas partnered up with Santana in 1999 for the hit single "Smooth". The year 2000 saw a minor name change to "Matchbox Twenty" and their sophomore release of "Mad Season". |
