“The Jam Part 1” and “The Jam Part 2” are a series of rock music tribute prints depicting the musical influences that shaped the evolution of today’s music. These major artworks are rendered in a Pen & Ink stipple technique called pointillism. Pointillism is when small dots, rather than lines or strokes, are grouped together to create shading and form. Artist Michael Evans Keirstead’s compositions indicate musical collaboration and artistic sphere of influence through the size and placement of the musician’s faces. Faces that are touching have played together and bigger faces indicate a wider sphere of influence, according to the artist, Michael Keirstead. These contraversial and engaging conversation pieces make great gifts!
“The Jam Part I – A History” is the first in this series of music tribute prints and chronicles Rock from its first awakenings in the 1940’s to its pivotal decades of the 1960’s and 1970’s.
“The Jam Part II – Long Live Rock & Roll” picks up where the first left off, and continues to document the evolution of Rock music from the 1980’s to the present.
The original 8×4 foot stipple drawings are huge and each took over five years to complete. Only large original size Limited Edition reproductions of the “Jam Part 2″ are still available. However, smaller (20″ x 40”) poster sized reproductions are available of both artworks. They are masterminded by talented Canadian artist Michael Evans Keirstead.
